FrieslandCampina Ingredients’ latest GOS innovation, Vivinal® GOS-SL, is a complex solution that contains more than 100 oligosaccharide structures. Some of these structures are present in human milk such as galactosyllactoses 3’-GL, 4’-GL and 6’-GL and sialyllactoses 3’-SL and 6’-SL.
Elevating GOS for infant nutrition
Vivinal® GOS-SL has the same composition as Vivinal® GOS, including 3’-GL, 4’-GL and 6’-GL, but now also contains 3’-SL and 6’-SL from bovine milk origin. 3’-GL, 4’-GL, 6’-GL, 3’-SL and 6’-SL present in Vivinal® GOS-SL have the same structure as the ones in human milk.

Produced through a unique process
Our unique production process ensures SL enrichment and guarantees consistent SL and GL levels in Vivinal® GOS-SL syrup.
- Process begins by sourcing IFT grade whey permeate containing lactose and SLs.
- FrieslandCampina Ingredients has developed a selective purification and SL enrichment process to increase SLs on dm to min. 0.45%.
- Purified lactose stream enriched with SLs is used for enzymatic GOS production resulting in consistent GLs (3’-GL, 4’-GL, 6’-GL) to a level of min. 6.2% on dm.
Powering infant formula with SLs and GLs
Adding 6.5% Vivinal® GOS-SL syrup to an infant formula can provide 25% of the 3’-SL levels and 100% of the GL levels present in mature human milk
