Because ultimately, we believe that supplying excellent nutrition can – and must – go hand-in-hand with the best possible care for the planet. To achieve this, FrieslandCampina aligns its policies and operations to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, focusing on 8 of the goals, including responsible consumption and production and climate action. At FrieslandCampina Ingredients, we’re focusing on 4 of those key initiatives, where we can truly make the difference on our journey to sustainable dairy.
Greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction
As well as looking at our carbon footprint across our production sites, we are passionate about greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction across the entire dairy supply chain. With our GHG Reduction Partnership, we use a data-driven approach to help nutrition companies reduce their scope 3 emissions by 16% between 2019 and 2025. We have already worked with big players like Danone and Nestlé to make meaningful progress towards net climate-neutral dairy and we’re just getting started.

From glass to glass, our involvement across the value chain gives us a strong, end-to-end view of sustainability. That’s why we can support an our farmers in using sustainable dairy farming practices to address climate change concerns, support communities and protect our planet’s precious resources. This isn’t a modern innovation – we’re building on farming practices that have existed for generations, combining them with new science and technology at scale to empower more sustainable food production.
Biodiversity and sustainable dairy farming
It is our collective responsibility to provide the best possible care for the planet – and for us, this often starts on the farm. Sustainable dairy farming practices like regenerative agriculture can make an important difference to GHG reduction along the supply chain, as well as improve biodiversity. This holistic approach not only protects vital natural resources but also helps future-proof the global food supply, ensuring a responsible and resilient dairy industry.
Rewarding farmers for sustainable dairy farming practices
Sustainable dairy begins at the farm. Our Foqus planet scheme rewards member farmers for advances in four critical areas: animal health and welfare, GHG reduction, biodiversity and outdoor grazing. This incentivised approach creates tangible value for our partners, while improving sustainability on the farm.
