High-fat base powders are designed to form the basis of an infant formula. They consist of an oil blend (typically around 50% of the product), milk proteins and carbohydrates. The oil blend is designed to provide the bulk of the fat of an infant formula (only DHA and ARA need to be added separately). A final formulation can be manufactured by dry-blending a base powder with other ingredients.
