Whey proteins

Protein is an essential nutrient throughout human life, but especially during infancy – a period of rapid growth. Whey proteins provide a valuable amino acid profile for early life nutrition and are an important component of infant milk formula based on cow’s milk, where they are used to fine-tune the product’s casein:whey protein ratio and to meet legislative amino acid requirements.

What is whey protein?

Whey proteins are the proteins present in the serum fraction of milk. In concentrated form, whey proteins are used in infant formula to meet required amino acid patterns and improve the casein:whey ratio. Whey protein ingredients contain low lactose levels, enabling formulation flexibility.

What are the health benefits of whey protein?

Whey proteins are crucial for building muscles and bones. Whey proteins provide essential amino acids, the so-called building blocks of protein, needed for the healthy growth and development of infants 111Nutten, S. (2016).
